Challenge: AH Imaging Center’s Path to Market Leadership

AH Imaging Center, with its network of imaging centers in Baroda, is facing increasing competition in the healthcare sector. The company aims to become the leading imaging center in the region within two years, focusing on revenue growth, patient experience, and satisfaction. To achieve this, AH Imaging Center needs to differentiate itself from competitors, improve operational efficiency, and create exceptional experiences for patients.

Approach Adopted: Design Thinking Process for Innovation

To address the challenge, AH Imaging Center adopted the Design Thinking process, a structured yet flexible framework that fosters creativity and ensures that solutions are tailored to the needs of patients and the business. The approach was carried out step by step, as follows:

  1. Empathy
The first step involved gaining a deep understanding of the patients’ needs, frustrations, and expectations. The team conducted interviews and surveys with patients, doctors, and staff to uncover insights into the current patient experience, operational challenges, and service delivery issues. This allowed AH Imaging Center to align its solutions with the real concerns of its stakeholders.
Gains: Better understanding of pain points, leading to more relevant solutions that directly address patient and staff needs.
  2. Define
Using the insights gathered during the empathy phase, the next step was to define the core problems. The team synthesized the data into key challenges, and arrived at the real problem statement
Gains: A set of 7 How might we … statement. .
  3. Ideate
In this phase, the team brainstormed the problem statements. A range of innovative ideas was explored, such as the implementation of a digital platform, investment in cutting-edge imaging technology, and the introduction of newsletters showcasing unique challenges discovered in imaging process
Gains: Identification of 7 Ideas that could be explored for implementation.
  4. Prototype
The most promising ideas were selected and developed into low-fidelity prototypes to test their feasibility. This involved creating mockups of the digital platform, conducting pilot tests for the AI integration, and designing patient care processes.
Gains: Quick testing of ideas and feedback.
  5. Test
The prototypes were tested with system real time. This step allowed AH Imaging Center to assess how well the solutions addressed the core challenges and to refine them further.
Gains: Validation of ideas with actual users, leading to solutions being implemented.

By applying the Design Thinking process step by step, AH Imaging Center was able to develop innovative ideas that align with both patient needs and business goals, setting the foundation to become the leading imaging center in Baroda within the next two years.

Result

There were 7 innovative ideas identified for implementation at the system and operational level leading to a substantial reduction of time in delivering of the reports
